The Gotthard Panorama Express combines two unforgettable journeys into one, linking the lakes and mountains of Central Switzerland with the Mediterranean charm of Ticino. Travelling between Luzern and Lugano (or the reverse), the experience begins with a scenic cruise across Lake Lucerne before continuing aboard a panoramic train along the historic Gotthard mountain route.
On the lake, pass picturesque villages, dramatic cliffs and historic landmarks including the Rütli Meadow and Tell's Chapel. At Flüelen, board the panoramic train and follow the original Gotthard railway, climbing through the spectacular Reuss Valley, spiral tunnels and impressive bridges before crossing the famous Gotthard Tunnel into southern Switzerland.
The final stretch winds through the sun-soaked Leventina Valley and Bellinzona, home to three UNESCO-listed castles, before arriving in the lakeside city of Lugano. Combining spectacular scenery, fascinating railway history and two of Switzerland's most iconic forms of transport, the Gotthard Panorama Express is one of the country's most rewarding scenic journeys.
