Brienz-Rothorn
Dream of steam in the Bernese Oberland! Several Swiss mountains are called Rothorn
but there is only one near Brienz, on the beautiful Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland.
And only here, 15 km from the world-famous resort of Interlaken, is its ascent as romantic
and impressive, thanks to the Brienz Rothorn Railway, the oldest steam cog railway in Switzerland.
It has climbed Rothorn Kulm hissing, huffing and puffing since 1892.
